Michaelanne Helms
BA
Michaelanne (she, her, hers) is a graduate student intern and a MPS candidate of Art Therapy and Creativity Development at Pratt Institute with the expected graduation of July 2023. She has experience working with adolescents and adults in an inpatient behavioral health hospital setting, an eating disorder residential treatment center, as well as over 15 years of working as a Community Artist with a variety of populations.
Michaelanne believes that all lives are uniquely developing and each person’s journey holds meaning and purpose. She uses creativity in individual and group settings to create safe, non-judgmental spaces which dispel the illusion of isolation and allow for psychodynamic healing. Michaelanne employs a person-centered, holistic approach offering verbal and non-verbal evidenced based modalities. She will help individuals process lived experiences and move toward deeper self-awareness in order to reduce stress, experience one’s emotions, and build self efficacy toward overall wellness.
Under the supervision of a Licensed Professional Counselor and Board Certified Art Therapist, Michaelanne is hopeful to expand her clinical experience by accompanying a wide variety of clients as they work through the challenges of life they are facing.
