Dr. Jamie Whitaker is a licensed psychologist and Nationally Certified School Psychologist. Dr. Whitaker utilizes a cognitive-behavioral, solutions focused approach to assist individuals in building coping skills to take on life’s challenges and achieve personal goals. He works with adults of all ages with a primary emphasis on the treatment of depression, anxiety, substance abuse and career indecision. Dr. Whitaker also has extensive experience treating young adults with Autism and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Prior to joining Mind Matters, Dr. Whitaker spent 12 years in the field of psychological test publishing where he participated in the development of several widely used assessment tools. Most recently, he was a project director for the development of the Woodcock-Johnson Tests of Cognitive Abilities, Woodcock-Johnson Tests of Achievement, and Battelle Early Academic Survey (BEAS). Dr. Whitaker has presented at state and national conferences on various topics, such as dyslexia assessment and cognitive test interpretation. He is the co-author of several book chapters and journal articles focusing on neuropsychological assessment, school reintegration for children with TBI, and school-based mental health services. Earlier in his career, Dr. Whitaker served as an Adjunct Professor at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine where he taught courses in personality development, psychometrics, and psychological assessment.
Dr. Whitaker holds a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Kutztown University and completed his doctoral training in School Psychology at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Outside of work, Dr. Whitaker spends as much time as possible with his wife, daughter, and very lovable goldendoodle. When not watching the Philadelphia Eagles, he enjoys visiting historical places and beach towns.
